My children always need more bags. I feel like I am always looking for fun ways to get my children to carry their own sh** stuff. One of the ways that I have accomplished this is by making them cute bags that they actually want to carry. Sneaky mom :). This is one of the reasons that I first made this backpack. These backpacks are so easy to make that I decided to give them as party favors for my son’s 4th birthday. Since I sewed so many, I decided to make an easy sewing pattern to share!
Here are some examples from his Paw Patrol Birthday party. I found an image on google. Then, I used transfer paper to print the image. Next, I ironed the image on the front of the backpack.
For this backpack, I bought paw patrol fabric from Etsy pictured above and cut out each character. I then appliquéd each one to the front of the backpacks.
For my daughter, I stitched her initial onto the front.
This simple to sew backpack does not require any special hardware, but can be dressed up with specialty hardware like a lobster clasp. You can also add a zippered pocket on the inside or a pocket on the outside. Hopefully, I will have a tutorial of this soon!
