PATTERN TESTING GUIDELINES

Why do I need Pattern Testers?  All of my patterns are drafted based on a standard body measurements, but of course this does not always translate to the right size or fit. I need people to sew them and see how they actually fit on a real person. I also use this process to find typos or other problems in the instructions. I want my patterns to be easy to follow for all sewing levels. I usually choose 2 testers per size. If the pattern is not a garment or intended to be one size, I usually choose 5 – 10 testers.

The Pattern Testing Process:

Pre-testing: I usually make a few different sizes following my own instructions and then fitting the items onto mannequins to see how the fabric and style looks. So when you receive the testing pattern, it should be close to the finished product (in a perfect world).

Who can be a pattern tester?

Anyone! I do not discriminate based on skill level or lack of skills! Please just accurately identify your level when you fill out the questionnaire. You may not be chosen for a certain pattern because I do like to have a good representation of all sewing levels, but please feel free to join my Facebook Group because you may be selected for the next pattern.

Testing Requirements:

  • Join my facebook group The Cajun Girl Pattern Testers: I will use this format for posting questions and answering questions. You will only be admitted into the group if you are chosen as a pattern tester.
  • Complete the questionnaire: I will send you a questionnaire to document any trouble or problems you are having as well as questions that are specific to the pattern.
  • Photographs: You will be required to send a photograph of the finished item on a solid background. Please have a view from the front and back of the finished garment if applicable. I would also like a picture of the item being worn or in use.
  • Deadlines: I give a generous amount of time to finish the garments. The deadlines are typically one month from the date that the materials are delivered to you. Most of my patterns are beginner level and should not take more than a few hours to complete.

Testers Compensation:

  • All testers will receive a final digital version of my pattern free of charge.
  • All testers will receive their choice of one of my other digital patterns free of charge from my online shop.
  • If I use any of the photographs provided by the tester in my marketing, I will also provide the tester with a $20 gift card to their fabric store of choice. (This is of course if you give me permission to use your photos.)
  • Please note that compensation will vary with each test.
